What If We Were Never Separate?
Today I came across the idea of the quantum field described as a place of infinite potential—a deeper reality beneath what we can physically see.
Then came the idea of oneness.
That beneath all the apparent separateness of people, objects and experiences, there is connection.
I don’t know that science can prove the spiritual conclusions we sometimes attach to quantum physics.
But the idea stopped me anyway.
Because so much of human suffering seems to begin with the feeling that we are separate.
Separate from God.
Separate from love.
Separate from the life we want.
Separate from other people.
Sometimes even separate from ourselves.
And when we feel separate, we chase.
We chase belonging. Validation. Achievement. Love. Money. Beauty. Certainty.
We keep looking outside ourselves for something that will finally make us feel whole.
But what if wholeness isn’t something we achieve? What if it is something we remember?
My faith has taught me that God isn’t somewhere far away waiting for me to become good enough to reach Him.
Kabbalah has given me another language for something similar: the Light.
And now I’m encountering this idea of oneness again, through an entirely different doorway.
Different language.
Same question.
What if I was never as separate as I thought I was?
Maybe the work isn’t to desperately pull everything we desire toward us.
Maybe it’s to remove the fear, beliefs and defenses that keep telling us we are disconnected from love, from possibility, from God and from one another.
I don’t know exactly what exists beyond what we can see.
But I know I want to live differently because of the question.
Less chasing. Less proving. Less fear.
More trust. More connection. More Light.
Maybe we’re not trying to find our way home.
Maybe we’re remembering that we never actually left.
